Half Girlfriend is an upcoming Indian romantic drama film based on the novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat. The film is directed by Mohit Suri and features Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.
Principal photography commenced in June 2016 and filming locations include Bihar, Delhi, New York City and Cape Town. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 19 May 2017.
Once upon a time, there was a Bihari boy called Madhav. He fell in love with a girl from Delhi called Riya. Madhav didn’t speak English well. Riya did. Madhav wanted a relationship. Riya didn’t. Riya just wanted friendship. Madhav didn’t. Riya suggested a compromise. She agreed to be his half girlfriend.
Chetan Bhagat leaves no doors closed where there’s room to make fun of either him or his books or his movies.
Based on his novel, the upcoming Arjun-Shraddha-starrer ‘Half-Girlfriend’ will be hitting theatres soon. But one dialogue got way too much publicity than the movie itself after the trailer released.
For those who don’t know – because you haven’t read the book – Arjun portrays the character of a small village guy whose Bihari accent has been completely butchered in the movie. And since Twitter doesn’t forgive, here’s how they played the dialogue and made it into a meme.
The film is scheduled to release on May 19.
